 April 2003

 April Ride:

April 20th  is the rain date, sorry about it landing on Easter Sunday but it was the only day we could keep the original coordinators. This is an advanced ride based on miles, speed of travel and road type (e.g. curves & narrow), but we will likely have a second group of riders that will not ride so “technically”.

May & June Rides:

May 10th – Linda Garcia, this ride will start at A&S BMW so we can present the Appreciation Plaque to Randy. Route to be emailed to Melinda in time to post by May 1st.

Second ride of May will be a Novice ride on Sunday May 18th to Foster’s in Rio Vista. – Dee Dee

June 14th – Dolly, route to be determined.

Second ride in June will not be a club ride but will be coordinated by Sue H. as a tune up ride for Prescott, 300+ miles and will likely be to Chester and back. More later.

Upcoming Events:

·        WOW 2003 International Ride In – Prescott AZ. July 7,8,9 (M-TU-W) – Melinda has reconfirmed all rooms and gave up our extra room to a member of the WindDancers. The hotel is now expecting each “room captain” to call and confirm their room personally and make payment arrangements. Melinda will name captains and let you know via email. The riding groups seem to be taking shape based on when each want to leave. Susie is the ride contact if you want to leave on Fri and join her, Sue H is the ride contact for Sat. departure. They are willing to be the contacts if you want to connect with someone but are not “leading or coordinating” the ride per se.

·       Pony Express Relay 2003 – July 24th thru Aug. 1st is the Western Trail leg. It will be in our immediate area July 27-28. Gin & Noni & Nerissa are riding this and need to raise $250 each to be permitted to ride the leg. Give em’ your support ladies. We will be “staffing” a riders table at A&S from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Monday the 28th. More on this later, Pat Eagan has offered to work the table, we’ll need others to help and probably a coordinator.

Badges/Plaque:

The badges are done and available for purchase. They look great, gold background and black lettering, with our logo, club name, members name and Sacramento, CA. on them. The cost of the badge is $8. The plaque was passed around for viewing. The cost of the plaque is $2, both of which are already paid for please give $10 a piece to Sue C. Thanks Sue for doing this.

Shirts:

I brought a catalog and some shirt style suggestions for our club shirt. We wanted to stay with one style as a club shirt but seems impossible so there will be a couple of styles to choose from but we did decide on the color “white” with our club logo on the back. We figured most would wear their new badge on the front. I was lacking the prices for some of the styles and some other info that was asked so this is how we left it. I will provide additional information to Melinda and she will post on our website. After each of you reviews the info, call or email me with your order. I will finalize the order at the May meeting.

Mileage Contest:

It’s time to sign up. The form is in the WOW magazine.

Fall WOW WOW:

Be thinking about this. Trip to Lake Shasta, Sept, 20,21,22. (S,S,M) Gin will preride this trip in August. She also needs a headcount by the end of May so “be making” some plans.

May Meeting:

Remember special presentation on rider safety and the use of ABS brakes by Mike Zinda of A&S and Chuck Downing ret. Sgt. CHP

Yahoo Newsgroup – Nerissa – Many of the internal communication between riders is via email, some are finding that when they shoot an email to 20 other group members they are running into spamming issues as well as it can be a pain. Nerissa has set up a group email site that acts as a conduit for the multitude of emails going back and forth. It sounds like a great idea and has a lot of flexibility. She will send out a newsgroup invitation to all of us. Contact her with questions. Thanks Nerissa for setting this up!
